About Inarú

It has not escaped me that we haven't written lately ABOUT Inarú, sort of just around her. And there's lots to tell.

Physical Progress:
Inarú is holding up her head exclusively on her own, and loves for people to hold her in a sitting position. Apparently, she just started getting teething pains as well. The last few days she has been drooling more than normal, tries to stuff her hands in her mouth (sorry, babe, they don't fit) and gets fussy sometimes. A new development is that she now smiles and makes cute noises, and pretends to talk to us. She grins all the time, sometimes to herself. And yesterday she laughed, she giggled to me like a big girl and it caught me by surprise. I couldn't believe she did it.

She now has two more holes in her body. Inarú has earrings! And she looks adorable! Unfortunately, she has come down with a case of cradle cap. Apparently it is normal around this time, but I've been battling it with brushing and baby oil massages.

As of March 9, Inarú has started with a tablespoon of cereal in her milk at night! I had noticed she was not feeling satisfied after feeding. I know I'm supposed to wait until she's 4 months, but she really seems ready for it. Today we are going to start with 2 tablespoons in 6 oz, once at night and once in the morning, and see how she does. I haven't observed any adverse reactions or allergies so far, but we really have to watch her weight now, since she can be more apt to be diabetic.

Baby Accomodations:
We finally set up her crib. While my mom was here, she helped me put her on a schedule, and it has helped tremendously. All three of us are sleeping more and better, and she now sleeps in her own crib! Yay! I still sneek her in next to me in the morning, for some "us" time (i.e. a nap) I have to admit, I was probably more hooked on the sleeping together than she was. I actually miss her. But it's for her good, it'll be easier for her when she starts daycare to get used to a crib. So the crib looks adorable in the room, the dragon I bought her in Ikea is draped over one side of the crib, the bedding (Boyd's Bears, didn't know it till the other day) looks cute cute cute, and the Bear-mobile is the best thing since sliced bread. She now smiles and coos to the bears in pajamas and lamb going around above her head to the tune of Brahm's Lullaby (The go-to-sleep song, duh!). Unfortunately, the damn bears only go around for about 3 minutes. And guess who has to keep getting up to wind them up until you-know-who goes to sleep? She quickly figured out that if she complains (not cry, mind you, COMPLAIN as in ahh, ahhhh, and then a screeech) Mami or Papi will be stupid enough to get up and wind it up. Smart kid, that one. Yes, I'm currently looking for something that lasts much longer and will keep her entertained, such as a light show of some sort.

Visits:
Inarú is becoming quite the superstar in our family. Grandma came to visit for two weeks, and guess where she slept almost exclusively those two weeks? Yep, with grandma! Of course, she didn't get up once in the middle of the night to eat. Figures, she behaves well with other people... I was able to observe the most beautiful thing in the world: the budding relationship between a grandchild and her grandmother. Inarú gave her grandma her biggest smiles, her cutest coos, and lots of love in her eyes. If my mom so much as spoke to her, Inarú broke into a grin. There was definitely a deeper understanding between them. My aunt Rosanne, my mother's younger sister also came by to see Inarú for a few days. Boy was she a big help! With her help, we were able to move the computer office upstairs, straighten out the coat closet, and put together the Ikea chairs I bought for the kitchen. When she saw Inarú, she recognized the little girl she never had (she has four boys), and said that if she were to have had a girl, she would have looked just like Inarú. And Inarú finally met her Titi Rosie, who lives in Connecticut and will be marrying Lenny in October. They didn't get much time to bond, as it was a quick trip, but we are looking forward to them coming back for a longer weekend and hitting it off with Inarú. I have such wonderful memories of my childhood with my aunts, that I would love Inarú to fully experience that as well. And Rosie is only 5.5 hours away.

Upcoming visits include my aunt Damaris, and Adal's dad and his girlfriend.

Relationship with Papi
Wow, improving by leaps and bounds. She's starting to prefer him over me this month (she seems to change whenever convenient). She laughs at him and talks back and coos to her daddy. I think she is FINALLY bonding more with him, and needing ME less. I think it's because she's more interactive now than she used to be, so it's easier to play with her.

It's been a very busy month. And April 3rd I start working. Gah!!!!

  • The trip was too short! We are trying to come back...I wish we really were 5.5 hours away...the GW Bridge makes the trip at least an hour longer...someone has to build an expressway between CT and NJ that completely bypasses NY traffic...oh, there are some really cool lullabye night-time lightshow things out there...
